Purpose of the course:

The OHS Act requires all employers to ensure that the workplace is safe for employees. The risk of fires is present in most workplaces, and employees must be aware of fire safety and the most effective way to extinguish a fire. This course provides the employee with a theoretical background and practical skills to extinguish a fire.

Target group:

Employees that will be a member of a company’s Fire Team that is responsible for fire safety and fighting fires. General Employees & Fire Team Members.

Module 1: Workplace safety practices

  2. Classes of fire
  3. Company policy
  4. Legislation

Module 2: Operate firefighting equipment
  1. Elements of fire (combustion)
  2. How fires spread
  3. Fire equipment
  4. Personal protective equipment

Module 3: Fight fires in the workplace
  1. The decision to fight a fire
  2. Fighting the fire safely
  3. Firefighting steps

Module 4: Workplace combustible hazards
  1. Fighting fires in your workplace
  2. Understanding fires
  3. Preventing fires
  4. Combustible hazards within your workplace
